Installation Requirements for the Practiwood® composite terrace-boards.

No special tools are required for the installation of composite products. Practiwood® processing is just as simple as working with soft wood. Everyday tools can be used for sawing, drilling, milling or screws. Standard length is 2200 mm.

Distance between carrier bars.
The distance between your beams should not be more than 40cm between the centres for residential use, no more than 30 cm for commercial use with possible heavy burdens. When placing them on diagonally on beams, the indicated distance should be reduced by 10 cm.
For special situations or very unusual design, strength calculations must be performed.
Composite boards are not intended for use as supporting elements.

Distance between boards.
A minimal thermal expansion lengthwise is normal. In order to allow this expansion and to allow easy drainage, it is advised to leave a certain amount of space between planks. For instance; for a board length of 2.20 meters, a gap of 3 mm is to be left between the head and tail end of two boards for a difference of 25 degrees C between the temperature at installation and the maximum expected temperature. (For example if you are installing a sun terrace, where temperatures can reach 45 ° C, at a temperature of 20 ° C)
It is advised to leave a distance of about 3 mm parallel between boards. The specially designed Practiwood adjustment clips for hidden adjustment also serve as distance keeper between two boards. A backlash of 8 mm should be kept between a wall or another obstacle and the end of a full board (when they are inserted perpendicular to the wall).

Colour
When brushing, a preferential orientation is given to the surface fibres, which, just like with carpet, can give different colour impressions depending on the direction from which the board is viewed. If you would like an even colour on your terrace, it is recommended that all boards are placed in the same direction.
